60 Control, Westchester County, New York

    • 60 Control, Westchester County, New York

      Work in Progress:

The Westchester County Office of Emergency Management New York.
Westchester County is the neighbor-county of Bronx-County (NYC)

This county has a lot of volunteer ambulance services, volunteer fire departments, career fire departments and career paramedic services working together.
Ofcourse I want to have this county be as realistic as possible, so I asked Bass D to draw the units and help me with this communications center.
    • We are making a lot of progress.
Most work these weeks are for Bass D. Incredible graphics in his page on this forum:

Hopefully the graphics will be loaded soon, so we can insert the units with the right graphics.
Because the fire departments are first responders (60% to 80% of the calls are medical) it takes a lot of work to insert the right units as first responders.

Also I created a new dispatch for the LifeNet helicopters. These units can be added by other players and dispatch-owners as well.
Graphics will be drawn by Bass D.

    • *update*

The 60 Control dispatch will be using a second "trunked" channel for mutual aid.
60 Control dispatches most of the fire and ambulance services in Westchester County.
Some towns/villages have their own dispatch. Some towns dispatch police for BLS first response, others the fire department.
All fire departments respond to MVA, fires and rescue operations, but they don't show up as first responders, because fire can be dispatched in the game.

    • This is an overview of all fire departments and ambulance services in Westchester County NY.
DES = Westchester Department of Emergency Services, known as 60 Control.
Fire departments with no BLS/ALS are not dispatched as first responder to assist EMS calls.

      * 60 Control can dispatch. Cellphone 911 calls come in at 60 Control, other calls at the primary communications center.

    • And we are online! Please use the dispatch with the ID: 70993

EOC 60 Control Westchester County NY

The other is the trunked system (this is a channel for mutual aid, used by the emergency services dispatched by other 911 comunication centers in the county).
It is also online so other dispatches can use it as neighbor dispatch. ID: 68663
Yonkers, Mount Vernon, and in the center of the county the circle White Plains, Ossining, Scarsdale, Irvington, Greenville and Chappaque are dispatched by other communication centers. Also AMR, SeniorCare and Westchester EMS private ambulance services are in the trunked system for interclinical transports.

    • I just tried this dispatch and it's very nice, not least because of that it is the neighbor of my FDNY*EMS Bronx Division (In fact, you choose an outrageous copy). What I wondered about was the radio traffic. Shouldn't be the units called "61 Adam 3", "75 Boy 1", "38 Medic 1" and so on? And why are some units displayed with an "-", others not?

Edit: Okay, I just saw I forgot to make my FDNY*EMS dispatches available again :( my pardon

I'll make your FDNY as neighbor. If that other one is a copy...
Well, in fact. Working on the details will happen, just like working on the fire department available when a fire is in the neighborhood. Still can't get that work.
Also a lot of graphics will be added. Some police departments are the first responders in the town/village, and not the fire department.
Some ambulance corpses use ##-B-# , others ##B#, others ##-B# (#=number) on their trucks.

Paramedic units in Yonkers are called "Medic", like 43 Medic 1. But the confusing thing is there are also fly-cars with that name.
So me and ffemt will work the details. We are not happy about everything. And when you look at the dispatch scheme above... it is hard to understand

I did found out that 60 control does call the EMS units with "fifty-seven "Bee" one" (57B1)
Some EMS units respond with Alpha or Bravo, but 60 Control mostly uses the phrase above.

    • Tried this EOC for a session. Plays pretty well, the mutual aid system does the job. Great to have so many original graphics. Appreciate the work you('ve) invest(ed) in finding capeble solutions for implementing a different EMS system - in a foreign language.

      Some things I noticed:

      1. How about adding the ID to the thread title?

      2. Why no shift times for 24/7 units? They'll have to switch personnel at some point after all...

      3. No special codes for fire or technical rescue calls (e. g. structure or MVA)? Does 60 use carbon and traffic for this?

      4. Would prefer some automatic unit suggestions connected to the codes.

      5. The call signs are a bit chaotic. How about writing "HLF" in brackets at the end of the radio name (-> "Engine 29 [HLF]")? Whether working or not when alarming FD as such, the position of the trigger doesn't matter. You might also try giving these FR units an additional verbal name. They don't need to call themselves "HLF" via radio. ^^

      6. Depending on the amount of EMS units the call volume seems quite low (had only 106 runs from 8 AM to 7 PM). Easily every second ambo did not have to respond for more than four, several even for over eight hours. Compared to my German EOC's with a similar population your "RTW" intervals should be tripled at least, "NAW" might be doubled. But this might come with some area evaluation in the northeast as that stations got enough runs already.

      7. E 308 to Adira Rehab (-> spelling error) left the radio area during status 3. Found several more gaps between the active squares on the map. If the local dispatches also use 60's channel you need to mark Yonkers and such as well but using zero "Gewichtung" (-> part of the radio territory without generating calls there). Causing some problems atm (-> units not switching back to status 2 and not being available for new calls; had it with E 308, R 39 and S 11).

      8. Greenwich has a spelling error, the "Genus" has to be "N" (-> "das Krankenhaus", neuter). Same with StJ Dobbs Ferry and so on causing wrong build-ins in German texts (a kinda cosmetic thing ^^). Checking your POI list, Genus is a main problem as English has no different definite articles. You probably need a native speaker helping you with that.

      9. Alarm text should always start with capital letter ("A call for..."). The greeting is missing a dot or exclamation mark after the "911" and should alsways have a question mark at the end. The radio log sometimes reads "60 Control 60-Control" (-> problem should be at "Begriff für die Leitstelle im Funkrufnamen", probably needs to be empty as this field wants a hypernym like "dispatch").

      10. The special text does not always sound proper, needs more options. "A new call with a higher priority came in..." does not fit to a follow-up response. Sure a difficult topic

      11. Some graphics are bigger than others (e. g. 84B > 78B). Should be small fixes, just changing parameters.

      12. Maybe you can add the neighboring units and hospitals to the east and north at some point (not the full counties). Would be helpful, not only when having a MCI.

      13. If realistic, always informing dispatch about the transport destination might be nice to be activated. Do fly-cars go code 3 to the ER? There's an option for that as well.

      14. Adding more POIs, esp. the still unused tags (e. g. "Gasthaus", "Industrie", "Kirche", "Schule"), would bring more variety to the game as they also create other scenarios.

Hope to see some more development on "60 Control" in the near future. You created an interesting station already, now try to get all rooms pretty and functional. ^^

    • I didn't read it :)

The ambulance companies and fire companies are mostly volunteer. I really don't know what shift schedule all different stations have.
I do know the BLS ambulances handle a lot of calls and accidents. They are backed up by paramedics in flycars.
Only some ALS agencies are staffed by professionals and all ALS flycars. I didn't focus too much on codes. I used the Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS) for the calls.
That's very common in the USA.
I'm currently not working on new units due a lack of time. That was my top priority to make it a nice game.
Fine tuning still has to happen for this dispatch. :-). I'll triple the call volume. That's what I can do very fast :)
